ALEPH Israel Trips
ALEPH is committed to providing opportunities for Jewish people worldwide, and particularly the next generation of young leaders, to visit Israel on spiritually-grounded study tours. Our tours emphasize peacemaking and environmentalism, and provide opportunities to meet with a diverse range of scholars, artists and activists, as well as encounters with the land itself.
The ALEPH Israel Tour Program includes two types of trips:
- Regular tours with Jewish Renewal guides and teachers, open to all, and
- FREE biennial Taglit-birthright israel trips for qualified participants ages 18-26. If you wish to register for the August 2014 ALEPH Jewish Renewal trip, see the directions below.

Interfaith Spiritual Pilgrimage to Israel & Palestine
Supporting a New Paradigm for Healing and Peace
March - April 2010
This pilgrimage experience offered an opportunity for travelers to witness and support a healing for peace between Jews, Muslims and Christians while experiencing the sacred sites of the Holy Land. This interfaith spiritual pilgrimage to Israel and Palestine was like no other pilgrimage yet undertaken. Gandhi said, "If we were to create lasting peace we must begin with the children."
Jewish Renewal Rabbis Victor and Nadya Gross, Imam Jihad Turk, and co-founder of Salaam Shalom Educational Foundation, Shepha Schneirsohn Vainstein led a moving and soulful journey that began with inspiring visits to communities of Jewish, Muslim and Christian families transforming polarized societies in Israel through the Waldorf approach to education.

Thirty-eight incredible souls participated in ALEPH’s Third Jewish Renewal Taglit-Birthright trip. The group included artists, dancers, musicians, actors, students, lawyers, aspiring Cantors, Americans, Canadians -- and even one American baker now living in Italy. Read a full report.
ALEPH Jewish Renewal Pesach Pilgrimage, Istanbul to Jerusalem
March - April 2009
Rabbi Marcia Prager, Hazzan Jack Kessler and Rabbinic student Nachshon David Mahanymi led a Pesach spiritual adventure starting in Istanbul Turkey, one of the world’s oldest Jewish communities, and concluding at a star-lit Passover seder in Eretz Yisrael.

June - July 2008
Thirty-seven engaged and vibrant souls participated in ALEPH’s second Jewish Renewal Taglit-Birthright trip. The impressive group included several professional musicians, an aspiring cantor, two actresses, a soon to be pediatric oncology nurse, an aspiring NYC police officer, two professional anti-racism workers and four children of Jewish Renewal rabbis and rabbinic students. ALEPH/Taglit-birthright israel Trip
May 2006
The 2006 trip brought together 39 vibrant, creative young Jewish adults on a remarkable journey. Working with a traditional Birthright itinerary designed by Israel Outdoors for maximum and meaningful contact with the land, the trip included prayer at the Kotel (Western Wall), floating in the Dead Sea, a traditional Bedouin feast, a camel ride, several hikes, a kayak trip and much more.
