• Summer, 2010: NEW BOOK from Reb Zalman

We welcome A Merciful God, stories and teachings of the much-beloved Holy Rebbe, Levi Yitzhak of Berdichev -- this is the most recent collaboration of Reb Zalman and Netanel Miles-Yepez, Director of the Reb Zalman Legacy project.

Rabbi Levi Yitzhak of Berdichev (1740-1809) is one of the most celebrated and beloved of all Hasidic masters. His expansive personality was able to forgive the fiercest enemies, to bring factions together, and to pray with the utmost devotion, and to say the unsayable of his time. If Jews had patron saints, his compassion and emphasis on forgiveness, as well as his bold advocacy on behalf of his people would make him the patron saint of Yom Kippur!

This small but beautiful volume presents a careful selection of his stories and teachings, translating and retelling them for modern readers (many for the first time) and puts them into meaningful context with insightful commentary. A continuation of Reb Zalman and Netanel’s previous collaboration, A Heart Afire (also available).

• July 22nd, 2009: When Rosh HaShannah Falls on Shabbat

Most High Holiday prayerbooks will simply tell you that we do not blow shofar on Shabbat. But why is this so? Knowing as we do that many, even most people will come only on the first day, can a case be made in traditional Jewish [halachic] language that blowing the shofar on Shabbat could be permitted? Or, given the same knowledge, why might we not want to change the traditional practice? We invite you to explore this question prior to this Rosh HaShanah, which falls on Shabbat, and we are making this booklet available at a special price of $10 for the printed version (available by clicking on "Member Login" above or on the "ALEPH Store" link on the left of this screen) or $8 CA as a pdf download from the ALEPH Canada website (ReSources).

• April 5th, 2009: Rabbi Marcia Prager's Path of Blessing

We feel so blessed to offer a limited number of the hard cover edition of The Path of Blessing by Rabbi Marcia Prager at soft cover prices. This is an amazing book, focusing on the six words with which we begin every blessing and serve as our primary meditative form. Reb Zalman said about this book that it "gives voice to the urgings of the Shekhinah, the feminine aspect of God. You will draw inspiration and guidance from her teachings, which will lead you from level to level up the ladder of consciousness. Watch out! You are dealing with highly transformative material." For a fuller description of the book, please use the "Aleph Store" link on the left. As a special extra, each copy is signed by Reb Marcia.
