COVID-19 (coronavirus) has been spreading rapidly across the globe. Safety is always our highest priority, and we know that there have been some concerns about the upcoming in-person ALEPH programming, including the ALEPH Kallah.
If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Again, we are so deeply sorry that we won’t be gathering in Colorado this summer, but we are thankful for your continued support of and dedication to ALEPH and Jewish Renewal.
Our staff is staying up-to-date on all news and developments surrounding COVID-19. We are following updates from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO), and will act according to their recommendations.

UPDATE: March 25, 2020
With a heavy heart, ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal has decided to postpone both our in-person AOP Smicha Week and Kallah 2020 scheduled to take place this summer at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. The safety of our attendees is always at the forefront of our minds, and with the virus showing no signs of slowing down, we are not going to put our community at risk and potentially increase the spread even more significantly.
We don’t make this decision lightly, and we are currently hard at work to come up with an alternative. I would like to invite you all to a virtual, several-month-long gathering to provide support, resources, and a space for connection when it is so very much needed.
We are currently working overtime to put together this new program, and we would like your input. Please take a few moments to fill out this brief survey so that we can ensure we’re creating the type of programming that you would like to see.
It’s no secret that non-profits and small businesses are taking a huge hit during this pandemic. If it is in your heart, we ask for your consideration to make a donation to ALEPH in any amount to ensure that we can continue to provide Jewish Renewal programming to all.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have contributed to planning Kallah 2020:
- Our four-day teachers for their hard work and commitment to planning their classes
- Our volunteer coordinators for their dedication to building a dynamic event
- All who applied to teach a one-day workshop, lead a davvenen service, lead an evening program, sell at the shuk, or be a vendor at the Wellness Center for always offering of themselves to co-create a wonderful program
- The ALEPH Board of Directors and staff for their tireless work
- Our community for never giving up on the hope of a new reality, shaped by the vision of Reb Zalman z”l and his love for Jewish Renewal
In Jewish Renewal, we’ve embraced the Four Worlds model of the kabbalists, which holds that multiple levels of awareness are always available to us. So when one World, the physical, becomes temporarily less available, we are blessed with the ability to expand our consciousness into the other Worlds, strengthening our spiritual muscle to support ourselves and others in times of challenge. Please click here for a resource on navigating this experience through the Four Worlds.
Warmly,
The ALEPH Kallah 2020 Planning Team

March 9, 2020
All virtual programming (including ALEPH Ordination Program classes and Tikshoret classes) are not expected to be impacted.
As of Monday, March 9, the ALEPH Kallah and AOP Smicha Week are still scheduled to take place this summer at Colorado State University. We are in active communication with CSU and will share safety protocols as necessary. Please read CSU’s message about COVID-19. Naturally we are all concerned and reiterate our commitment to making decisions based on the best available information.
• In the World of Assiyah, we will implement every possible precaution to maximize safety, including cancelling/postponing should that extreme step become necessary.
• In the World of Yetzirah, we acknowledge and share our fears. The impact on our social lives, including how we meet and greet each other, is very challenging. Some of us are in high risk places, or have underlying health issues that are risk factors too. This is new and frightening. We care about one another and want each of us to be healthy and well.
• In the World of Briyah, we remember that all of life is inter-connected and part of the One Source. We have intelligence, insight, intuition and knowledge. As humans, we are more than our fears, and are not paralyzed but activated to engage creatively and discover solutions.
• In the World of Atzilut, we look to those practices which support and nurture our most God-connected selves. We are sparks of Divine Light living human lives. We can hold ourselves, the world, all people and creatures, and our beautiful planet in the gentle, loving light of compassion and healing.
Our friends over at Repair the World and Amplifier Giving partnered together to create this resource, which can help you think about how you might respond and care for those who have been impacted by the virus.
If you have any concerns about COVID-19 and ALEPH programming, please reach out to us directly at aleph@aleph.org. We will continue to monitor the situation and will report with any updates or changes. Please take all appropriate precautions. Stay safe during this time.
There are many ways to plan your Kallah class experience this year!
We are thrilled to offer four-day classes and one-day workshops. Four-day classes meet for four days, at the same time each day (in either the morning or afternoon.) One-day workshops meet once during one of those time slots.
You can choose your own adventure at Kallah--maybe you want to take a four-day class in the morning for a deep dive into a topic, and then four separate one-day workshops in the afternoon. Or perhaps you want to take a four-day class in the morning, and another four-day class in the afternoon. Or maybe you really want to get a taste of everything, and choose to take a different one-day workshop each day.
Your schedule is up to YOU!
NEW THIS YEAR: Course selection will become available to you AFTER you successfully complete your registration. You will NOT choose your courses during registration.
---
We are excited to announce our lineup of four-day teachers! Course titles, descriptions, and more information about our teachers will be coming very soon.

Kallah’s unique and transformative teen program is back again! Led by Wilderness Torah mentors and guided by their core philosophies of earth-based Judaism and nature connection, teens will be guided into the wilderness on an exciting, connective, four-day backpacking adventure.
For four days, teens will explore the beautiful outdoors of Northern Colorado through backpacking (6+ miles to a basecamp), nature-connection, and wilderness adventure, while gaining insight into their own life’s journey through group building, Jewish teachings, and some solo time in the wilds.
Guided by the theme Finding the Hidden Light (Ohr Ein Sof), teens will nurture their connection with the natural world, themselves, their group, and Jewish tradition. Activities will include wild plant ethnobotany, wilderness travel skills, and Jewish experiences that attune us to nature's cycles. Ample space will be created for guided quietude and reflection as well as group sharing. The team will be welcomed back by the Kallah community before Shabbat and invited to share stories of their journey.
We are excited to see your family in Colorado this summer!
